Key Responsibilities
- Read PAP and non-GYN slides, screening an average of 60–80 slides per day within limits set by CAP and Pathologist guidelines
- Perform molecular testing on PAP vials and conduct grossing as part of routine duties
- Demonstrate technical skill in all aspects of cytology processing, preparation, and staining
- Assist in specimen collection as requested
- Maintain accurate computerized patient records
- Ensure diagnoses are consistently within one grade of Pathologist or Consultant diagnosis
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an ABHES-accredited school of cytotechnology or a program approved by Health and Human Services, or must meet CAP qualifications for the Cytotechnologist position
- CT (ASCP) registration required
- Associate degree required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cytotechnologist
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of the cytotechnology department
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Experience with molecular testing on PAP vials and grossing procedures
