Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for a Medical Surgical unit with a patient population including traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, spine injuries, subdural hematomas, and neurological trauma
• Manage heparin drips, PCA, blood product administration, and IV therapy including central lines, peripheral lines, and PICC lines
• Perform colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, wound care, and surgical drain management including chest tubes
• Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, oxygen protocols, and non-invasive airway management including tracheostomy and oral suctioning
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic and operate within unit systems including Pyxis and SBAR communication
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed, and participate in storm, hurricane, or disaster response teams as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical experience within the last 5 years
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record documentation
• Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:5–6
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification and proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with drip management, CVA, pre/post hemodialysis, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury care
