Contract | Night Shift | Alternating 36 and 48 hours per week (Friday–Sunday schedule) | 18:45–07:15 | 13-Week Contract
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an Intermediate Care/Progressive Care/Stepdown unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and titrate cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
- Manage patients presenting with diagnoses including A-Fib RVR, hyperglycemia, hypertension requiring drips, and heparin drip therapy
- Perform and oversee advanced clinical procedures including arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, chest tube care, and blood product administration
- Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and care of ventilated patients
- Float to ED IVC Sitter role as needed; adhere to all isolation precautions and PPE protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers accepted
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Demonstrated proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown nursing, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, and wound care/wound vac
- Proficiency with Omnicell and MediTech systems
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience managing patients with CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, and total joint replacement
- Familiarity with remote and on-unit telemetry monitoring
- Prior experience with non-invasive airway management including HFNC and BiPAP/CPAP
