Contract | Nights | 36 hours per week, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | On-call required | Shift rotation may be required based on staffing and census needs
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assessments and monitor the progress of labor, including preparation for C-sections and inductions, with accurate nursing documentation
- Administer care during labor, post-delivery, and postpartum periods, including newborn/infant care and patient education
- Prepare the delivery room, provide emotional support to patients, and coordinate patient transfers as needed
- Administer IV medications and adhere to infection control principles and OB department policies
- Assure all aspects of maternal and newborn care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN program with current Colorado RN licensure
- Current CPR certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or must be obtained within one year of employment
- ACLS certification required or must be obtained within one year of employment
- Ability to perform effectively in highly stressful situations and interact with a wide variety of people
- Knowledge of sterile technique, infection control principles, and technical aspects of mother/infant care
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in obstetrics care preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide effective patient and family education
- Knowledge of or interest in obstetric equipment and labor and delivery nursing care essentials
