Quality Assurance Coordinator – Sterile Processing

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Sterile Processing Department (SPD) workflow, quality, and daily operations to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Perform daily process and quality tray audits and document results accurately within the instrument tracking system for traceability.
  • Monitor staff competencies and provide training, coaching, and re-education as needed; train new hires and assist with annual competency assessments.
  • Maintain accurate quality and event reporting, including internal and external quality events (ERA reporting).
  • Monitor routine equipment maintenance, troubleshoot minor equipment issues, and ensure adherence to SPD policies, manufacturer IFUs, and load-failure procedures.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, attend quality meetings, submit detailed daily reports, and communicate effectively with site management and quality/education leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
  • At least 1 successfully completed travel contract in sterile processing.
  • At least 2 years of experience in quality assurance, staff education, or supervisory responsibilities within an SPD setting.
  • Active certification as a Sterile Processing Technician – CRCST or CBSPDT required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in AAMI standards, Joint Commission requirements, and Infection Prevention guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Epic and instrument tracking systems.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience leading or supporting quality improvement initiatives within a sterile processing or perioperative environment.
  • Familiarity with ERA reporting processes and event documentation best practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including supervisors and quality/education leadership.
