Travel RN – Adult Psychiatric (Night Shift)

Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Full-Time | Onsite | Three 12-hour shifts per week including weekends
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients' mental health status by taking thorough patient histories, observing behavior, and utilizing diagnostic tools to identify psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral concerns
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with mental health and behavioral health needs, including goal-setting, intervention, and outcome evaluation
- Administer psychiatric and psychotropic medications while monitoring for side effects and adverse reactions
- Provide crisis intervention support for patients experiencing suicidal ideation, aggression, or acute psychiatric episodes using de-escalation techniques and appropriate clinical responses
- Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
- Utilize therapeutic communication strategies including active listening and empathy to build trust and rapport with patients across multiple psychiatric units
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 1 year of experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing
- Active BLS certification
- Active CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification – Blue Card required at time of submission
- Proficiency with electronic documentation systems (Meditech experience a plus)
- Ability to float to units based on greatest patient need
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working across varied psychiatric populations including adolescent, adult, and senior behavioral health patients
- Familiarity with thought disorder diagnoses and higher-acuity psychiatric patient care
- Knowledge of patient-centered communication frameworks and structured care interaction models
