Contract | Days | 4x10 Hours (12:00–22:30) | No weekends, no holidays, no on-call
Key Responsibilities
- Provide post-anesthesia recovery care (Phase I PACU) for a diverse adult, adolescent, and geriatric surgical patient population in a Level I Trauma Center setting
- Recover patients following a wide range of surgical procedures including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant surgeries
- Manage patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring including ICP monitoring, vasoactive drug administration, and blood product transfusions
- Perform phlebotomy, IV insertion, and administration of IV vasopressors as indicated
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and other acute post-operative complications
- Float within scope to PACU or PreOp units as needed to meet facility demands
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (MO or compact license required; pending MO license considered)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with critical care background required
- Level I PACU or critical care experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required by compliance deadline
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
- Candidate must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a Magnet-designated or teaching hospital environment
- Familiarity with preoperative patient workup procedures
- Experience caring for patients requiring care of ventilated patients and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
