Contract | 16 Weeks | Days (3x12, 7:00–19:30) | One weekday of choice plus every Saturday and Sunday | No on-call required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Phase I post-anesthesia recovery care for a diverse surgical patient population including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
- Monitor and manage patients requiring artificial airways, invasive hemodynamic monitoring (including ICP monitoring), vasoactive drug administration, and mechanical ventilation
- Administer blood products and IV vasopressors; perform phlebotomy and IV insertion as needed
- Recognize and manage cardiac dysrhythmias throughout the post-operative recovery phase
- Care for adult, adolescent, and geriatric patient populations within a Level I Trauma Center environment
- Float within scope to PACU or PreOp units as needed to meet facility staffing needs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (MO or applicable compact license); pending MO license submissions accepted
- Minimum 2 years of PACU or critical care nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required by compliance deadline
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
- Experience with Phase I PACU recovery, critical care, and inpatient settings
- Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Level I Trauma Center or Magnet-designated facility
- Familiarity with a high-volume, multi-specialty surgical recovery environment (38-bay unit, average daily census of 70–90)
- Experience caring for patients requiring ICP monitoring and care of ventilated patients in a post-operative setting
