Registered Nurse – Oncology (Hematology/Oncology Unit)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Hematology/Oncology Med/Surg unit for patients with diagnoses including lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, and other hematologic and oncologic conditions
• Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips in accordance with unit protocols
• Monitor and interpret telemetry/dysrhythmias and respond to oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, and perform phlebotomy including central line blood draws
• Maintain a strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Float to other Med/Surg and Oncology units as needed based on staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum Med/Surg experience required; telemetry experience including dysrhythmia interpretation required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting system
• Experience with feeding tube care, blood product administration, and IV therapy/phlebotomy

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Hematology/Oncology clinical experience strongly preferred
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification preferred
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome and tumor lysis syndrome
