Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Days | Preferred shift 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM; flexibility for 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM | 4x10s or 3x12s available | Temp-to-Perm opportunity
Key Responsibilities
- Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned patients in a high-acuity OR environment.
- Administers medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and available resources.
- Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed to effectively manage clinical situations.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience required
- BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- ACLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- PALS certification required (American Heart Association only)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Experience across a broad range of OR specialties including general surgery, neurosurgery, spine, orthopedics, robotics, and vascular surgery
- Prior experience in a trauma center setting
