Registered Nurse – PICU (Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool)
Location
Charleston, SC | Acute Care – Pediatric Units (CVPICU, NICU, PICU)
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Every other weekend required, holiday rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients within a float pool model, rotating across pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU based on unit needs
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3 in a high-acuity pediatric critical care environment
- Float within scope of practice to support staffing needs across all assigned pediatric units
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotation as scheduled
- During hurricane season (June–November), contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams as directed by facility leadership
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina RN License or Multi-State/Compact RN License (SC license must be active prior to start; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered with proof of application or ability to complete the SC walk-through process)
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association only)
- PALS Certification (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
- Candidates who have previously worked as permanent or PRN staff at this facility must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be considered under standard traveler terms; local candidates (within 60 miles) may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
- Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
