Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30) | 36 or 48 hours per week available
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical Trauma unit receiving patients from the ED, OR, and ICU, including geriatric trauma, abuse/violence victims, MVA, falls, and acute care surgery cases
- Manage complex patient populations including spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
- Perform and oversee blood product administration, peripheral line care and management, phlebotomy, IV starts, insulin administration, and PCA management
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound vacs, surgical drains, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), and various oxygen delivery systems
- Pass required Relias EKG exam; demonstrate interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Float within service line to meet facility needs as required
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (MO or compact license required; pending MO license submissions accepted)
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience
- BCLS and ACLS certifications required
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac management
- Familiarity with traction, external fixators, restraints, and patient lift equipment
- Experience caring for geriatric trauma patients (55+ years) and acute care surgery diagnoses such as appendicitis, hernia repairs, fistulas, and burns
- Background in a Magnet-designated or Level I Trauma teaching hospital environment
