Travel Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
Location
Salt Lake City, UT | Freestanding Emergency Department (FSED)
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 13-Week Travel Assignment (extension to 26 weeks may be available) | Night Shift | Thursday–Saturday, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM | 7 on/7 off, 10-hour shifts | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Perform waived and non-waived patient testing using a variety of laboratory analyzers in a freestanding emergency department lab setting
- Conduct daily maintenance, quality control, and calibrations on analyzers
- Process specimens including ordering tests, centrifuging, preparing send-outs for transport, stocking lab supplies, and routine cleaning of lab surfaces
- Operate and maintain equipment including Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA COVID-19, and Aerospray stainer
- Interface professionally with clinical emergency department staff while working independently within the lab
- Perform clerical duties as assigned in support of FSED operations; adhere to all CLIA and CAP laboratory safety protocols
Required Qualifications
- Full MLS certification through ASCP (or equivalent such as CLS or MT) — associates-level certification is not accepted
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS
- Ability to work independently and communicate professionally with both lab and non-lab clinical staff
- Adherence to standard laboratory safety protocols as required by CLIA and CAP
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with EPIC EMR
- Familiarity with any of the analyzers listed above (Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA COVID-19, Aerospray stainer)
