Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 37-bed Medical Surgical unit with a night shift patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Manage and monitor patients with common diagnoses including COPD, sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and post-surgical cases (hips, knees, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, bowel resections)
• Administer and monitor IV drip therapies; most common drips on the unit include Lasix and Heparin
• Care for telemetry patients in coordination with a central monitor technician, with strip visualization available on the floor
• Care for patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen support (no ventilator patients on this unit)
• Collaborate with in-house hospitalists, APN night coverage, eHospitalist, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), and pharmacy support; may float to other floors based on demonstrated competency

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
• Ability to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays as scheduled
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Medical Surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and common Med-Surg drip management
• Familiarity with post-surgical patient populations and respiratory support modalities (BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow)
