Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | 3x12 per week | Expected 36 or 48 hours per week | Every other weekend required | 13-week assignment or longer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an ICU stepdown/IMC setting with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4, caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Manage and titrate vasoactive drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo; strong drip experience is required
• Monitor and interpret telemetry at bedside and remotely; recognize and manage dysrhythmias
• Care for patients with complex diagnoses including respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, post-operative recovery (GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, ortho), CVA, and pre/post OB with complications
• Manage specialized equipment and procedures including arterial lines, BIPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, tracheostomies, PICC lines, and central lines; no ventilators on unit
• Float as needed to a sister ICCU unit; participate in Rapid Response Team protocols and IV insulin and heparin protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• ACLS, BLS/BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Must pass EKG/telemetry testing prior to start
• Experience required with arterial lines, titrating vasoactive drips, conscious sedation, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line management, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and non-invasive airway management
• Local candidates are welcome; a lower rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Familiarity with Pyxis and Epic electronic health record systems
• Experience working in a high-acuity stepdown environment that functions similarly to an ICU
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted)
