Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit managing diagnoses including orthopedic trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, subdural hematoma, and neurological trauma
• Administer and manage heparin drips, blood products, and other IV medications; perform IV starts, phlebotomy, and manage peripheral, central, and PICC lines
• Manage tracheostomies, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), surgical drains, feeding tubes, colostomy care, and wound care
• Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, O2 protocols, and non-invasive airway management including oral suctioning and nasal cannula
• Document all patient care accurately using Epic; utilize Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatient holding as needed; participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact license accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical RN experience within the last 5 years
• Epic documentation experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be comfortable with a patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Local candidates are welcome; candidates within 50 miles of the facility should be aware that a lower rate applies

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification
• Dysrhythmia interpretation skills
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and drip management
• Experience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury patient populations
