Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for night shift)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical ICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex diagnoses including sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and overdose
• Interpret EKG strips and monitor telemetry using Philips monitors; nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting their own strips
• Manage arterial lines and central lines, and provide advanced care for ventilated patients
• Titrate a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive drips per physician-outlined parameters
• Float as needed; travelers float first — stepdown assignments carry a 1:3 ratio and general medical assignments carry a 1:4 ratio
• Operate in a Drug-Free Campus environment; a negative drug screen for all panels is required

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, and care of the ventilated patient
• Ability to interpret EKG strips and titrate vasopressors and other vasoactive medications
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior MICU or medical ICU experience with high-acuity patient populations
• Familiarity with Epic EMR
• Experience working alongside tele medicine intensivist support and in-house attending models
• Comfort with respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen for troubleshooting purposes
