Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care across all age groups within the scope of Alaska’s physical therapy practice.
  • Incorporate evidence-based medicine into personalized patient treatment plans.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct, uphold patient care ethics, and respect cultural diversity during service delivery.
  • Adapt patient care plans considering age-specific and individual patient needs.
  • Utilize appropriate therapy modalities and equipment, including whirlpools, ultrasound, electric stimulation, and therapeutic exercise tools, both in hospital and village settings.
  • Collaborate effectively with medical staff, peers, and community members, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and medical correspondence related to patient care.
  • Access and interpret medical literature to enhance treatment effectiveness.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing, including with non-English speaking populations.
  • Operate standard office and medical equipment, as well as basic MS Office applications and internet resources for research and documentation purposes.
  • Solve practical problems and interpret various instructions in written, oral, or visual formats.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Valid Alaska state license in good standing as a Physical Therapist, or current FSBPT paperwork enabling work as a Student Physical Therapist while preparing for licensure.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to interpret medical and scientific literature and communicate effectively with diverse populations.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Hospital-based experience.
  • Comfort working with diverse populations in rural or village settings.
  • Experience operating physical therapy equipment such as whirlpools and ultrasound devices.
