Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for a 42-bed Medical Respiratory Unit, primarily handling acute and chronic respiratory conditions such as pneumonia, COPD, and other lung diseases.
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate patient treatment plans.
- Float between units and hospitals as needed, ensuring coverage across various medical and respiratory care units.
- Administer treatments to patients with GI issues, diabetes, stroke, surgical conditions, and respiratory diseases.
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on the main respiratory unit and 1:4 on the respiratory step-down unit.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, shift schedules, and holiday requirements, including working every other weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN)
- Registered Nurse license in Alabama or a valid Compact state license (no temporary licenses accepted)
- BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent relevant nursing experience, with at least 1 year in the specified specialty
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous experience working in Medical Surgical or Telemetry units specializing in respiratory care
- Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical records system
- Ability to float safely between different hospital units
