Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general Medical Surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including chronic illnesses (COPD, Diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease), GI conditions, infections, neurological issues, and mental health disorders

  • Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication throughout the care continuum

  • Manage and operate clinical equipment including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps and tubes, chest tubes, heating/cooling pads, and telemetry monitoring

  • Administer and manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, and support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries

  • Utilize Epic electronic health record, Pyxis medication dispensing systems, and Accucheck blood glucose monitoring in daily practice

  • Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

  • Active Indiana RN license or valid compact RN license

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similarly sized facility (600+ beds)

  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system

  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior experience floating across multiple medical units in a large hospital environment

  • Familiarity with Pyxis dispensing systems and Hospira IV pumps

  • Experience caring for patients with complex, multi-system diagnoses in a high-acuity Medical Surgical setting
