Registered Nurse NICU

Job Title
• Registered Nurse - NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type
• Nights, Full-time, 3 shifts per week

Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialized, comprehensive care to neonates in a Level III NICU, including infants from 22 weeks gestation and above.
• Manage respiratory distress, glucose levels, and care for neonates requiring surgical or cardiac interventions.
• Administer medications via Pyxis system, including IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids.
• Document patient care accurately and promptly using electronic health records.
• Perform and oversee procedures such as arterial line management, central line care, and neonatal abstinence interventions.
• Monitor and adjust ventilator settings (e.g., AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) to support respiratory management.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurse practitioners, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, and social services.

Required Qualifications
• Valid RN license with a compact or Ohio state license in hand at the time of submission.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Experience working in Level III or Level IV NICU settings.
• Proficiency in interpreting cardiovascular dysrhythmias and managing related needs.
• Skilled in gastrointestinal feeding methods and tube management (oral, nasogastric, nasojejunal).
• Strong knowledge of infection control protocols and IV therapy, including umbilical artery and venous catheter care.

Preferred Experience / Skills
• Previous employment at nationwide children’s hospital or similar high-level NICU.
• Experience in managing complex neonatal conditions, including respiratory, cardiac, and infectious issues.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, especially EPIC.
