Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to acutely ill or injured patients in the emergency setting, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Deliver holistic care that addresses both clinical needs and emotional/spiritual support, ensuring high patient satisfaction.
  • Triage and prioritize patients based on acuity, implementing care plans, and effectively monitoring, recording, and communicating patient conditions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, fostering positive relationships across departments and facilities.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including those set by the Texas Board of Nursing, DSHS, and other relevant agencies.
  • Perform laboratory specimen collection and processing in accordance with established safety and procedural guidelines.
  • Provide basic respiratory support including pulse oximetry, capnography, supplemental oxygen administration, and nebulization treatments.
  • Use critical thinking and decisive judgment to work independently in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Facilitate patient transfers and discharges smoothly, maintaining efficiency and compliance.
  • Participate in departmental policy development, staff training, and ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings, staying current with organizational goals and disseminating information as needed.
  • Support team development through performance evaluations, competency assessments, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid and current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas (or compact license).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Current certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior experience in a high-volume emergency care environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt under pressure in emergency situations.
