Contract | Nights | Three 12-hour shifts per week | Weekday and weekend rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care for ventilated patients, including initiating and titrating IV drips such as vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Assist with intubations and line placement as needed
- Monitor critically ill patients with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, myocardial infarctions, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia
- Care for both ICU and progressive care patients within a mixed-acuity unit, with a higher frequency of progressive patient assignments
- Utilize unit equipment including Phillips heart monitors, Epic (EMR), Pyxis, EKG machines, and dopplers
- Float as needed to other ICU, progressive care, or medical-surgical units while maintaining a 1:3 ratio across all settings
Required Qualifications
- Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum of 1.5 years of ICU experience
- Strong critical thinking, reasoning, and flexibility in a fast-paced critical care environment
- Team-oriented and personable with a solid foundation in medical and critical care patient management
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 or more years of ICU experience preferred
- Experience managing progressive care patients in addition to ICU-level patients
- Familiarity with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
