Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Technologist / Clinical Lab Scientist

Contract | Nights (Midnight Shift) | Onsite | No weekend requirements; possible call as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and receive biological specimens (blood, urine, fecal, body fluid) for analysis across all clinical laboratory departments
• Perform complex laboratory procedures; recognize deviations from expected results and apply scientific principles to analyze and correct problems
• Analyze quality control data, make judgments regarding results, and take appropriate corrective action to maintain accuracy and precision
• Participate in the evaluation of new laboratory techniques and procedures; write and revise technical procedures as needed
• Respond to inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity, and factors that may influence results
• Review instrument indicators and temperature monitors for all laboratory departments and maintain self-competency in laboratory skills

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Associates degree accepted for grandfathered personnel)
• CLS, MT (ASCP), or equivalent certification required
• New MT graduates must pass the certification exam within 6 months of employment start date
• Phlebotomy skills required; must be capable of functioning as a lab generalist

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with any of the following analyzers: Abbott Alinity, ACL Tops 350, GeneXpert, Beckman Coulter, Torch, or Clinitek
• Experience evaluating and troubleshooting issues related to collection and processing of biological specimens across all age ranges
