Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit managing typical M/S diagnoses including dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, and anemia
- Perform and manage a broad range of clinical skills including IV therapy, blood product administration, central and PICC line management, phlebotomy, wound care, colostomy care, and feeding tube management
- Monitor patients via remote telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and utilize Rapid Response Team protocols as needed
- Manage respiratory support modalities including CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, oral suctioning, and non-invasive airway management
- Adhere to isolation precautions, including care within a dedicated COVID isolation area
- Float to other units within the facility as required and participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or disasters
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact nursing license
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- Current BCLS certification
- Proficiency in Medical/Surgical and remote telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, chest tube management, and wound care/wound vac
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Availability for full hospital orientation during week one, including required classes each day
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, port access, CVA care, surgical drains, tracheostomy management, and interpretation of ABGs
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records
- Background in MS/Tele or stepdown-level care
