Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
• Utilize electronic health records (Epic), Pyxis medication dispensing, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, Hospira IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring equipment
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20) required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience at a large hospital (600+ beds)
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing a broad range of medical-surgical diagnoses including sepsis, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and substance abuse
• Familiarity with SCDs for VTE prevention and heating/cooling pad equipment
• Prior experience floating within medical units in a high-volume hospital environment
