Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an ICU setting with a 1:2–3 patient ratio, including neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis/MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath populations
• Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia and emergency managementMonitor and manage patients with EVDs, post-neurosurgical needs, and stroke protocols
• Float as needed to Stepdown Unit, ED, or Med-Surg to care for ICU-level patients being held in those areas
• Complete pre-start orientation modules and pass required EKG competency testing prior to start date

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submittal — no exceptions
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• NIHSS certification required
• Strong neurology experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke
• Proficiency in EPIC EMR required — no exceptions
• Must pass EKG competency test with a score of 80% or higher prior to start (one attempt, no remediation)
• No prior license or background hits; no fit test history that would prevent standard mask use (PAPR cannot be accommodated)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
