Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients for Activities of Daily Living (ADL), range of motion (ROM), strength, and functional deficits for both inpatient and outpatient populations under physician referral.
- Develop, implement, and document individualized occupational therapy plans of care, including orthotics fabrication, sensory integration, psychosocial functioning, and upper extremity motor rehabilitation.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive rehabilitative care and discharge planning.
- Serve as an activities consultant for long-term care and hospital units, providing guidance on planning and conducting individual and group activity programs.
- Conduct in-service training for hospital staff, orient team members to occupational therapy goals, and contribute to staff education and professional development.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of treatment records, statistical data, and compliance with regulatory standards including TJC, HIPAA, and infection control requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Active Hawaii Occupational Therapy license (or ability to obtain promptly upon placement).
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Current BLS certification.
- Demonstrated clinical competency in ADL assessment, treatment planning, and functional rehabilitation across diverse patient populations.
- Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA regulations and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a rehabilitation department that provides occupational, physical, and speech therapy services.
- Familiarity with long-term care (LTC) and acute hospital settings.
- Experience with orthotics design, fabrication, and fitting, as well as vocational and psychosocial therapy programs.
