Contract | Nights (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 13–26 Week Assignment | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit with a primary Oncology patient population, managing diagnoses such as AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, encephalopathy, and diabetic foot ulcers
- Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection as needed
- Manage and monitor central lines, PICC lines, peripheral lines, surgical drains, chest tubes, and wound vacs
- Administer blood products, heparin drips, and insulin; perform central line blood draws and port access
- Float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding in the ED as required
- Participate in storm, hurricane, and disaster response teams as assigned; attend monthly staff meetings
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in NC or a Compact state
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an inpatient Medical/Surgical setting
- Proficiency in colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, PICC line management, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Ability to administer chemotherapy if required
- Current BLS certification
- Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR communication
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- Charge nurse experience
- CPI certification
