Contract | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | 13–26 Week Assignments
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit with a primary oncology patient population, including administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy (IV, PO, or injection), and management of general medical-surgical diagnoses such as sepsis, AKI, malignant neoplasms, diabetic foot ulcers, and encephalopathy
- Perform and manage specialized clinical procedures including colostomy care, port access, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, surgical drain management, chest tube care (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound care and wound vac management
- Administer and monitor high-risk medications including heparin drips and insulin; apply isolation precautions and non-invasive airway management as needed
- Float as required to similar inpatient units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding in the ED or other medical patient care areas
- Participate in every-other-weekend rotation and fulfill on-call obligations for pre-scheduled shifts that are called off
- Respond and report to work as assigned during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, disasters, or storm/hurricane team activations
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient Medical Surgical setting
- Proficiency in: colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, heparin and insulin administration, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Ability to administer chemotherapy if required
- Current BLS certification
- Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR communication framework
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or other oncology certification
- Charge nurse experience
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
