Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and procedural trays, including those for outlying offices
- Operate and maintain sterile processing equipment including washers and steam autoclaves, keeping diligent records of loads, items, and maintenance procedures
- Inspect instruments to verify they are in good working order prior to tray assembly and report any issues to a supervisor
- Verify and accurately document missing instruments according to standard operating procedures
- Communicate effectively with operating room personnel and other departments
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and make recommendations to management for process improvements
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) license required
- Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required upon hire
- Working knowledge of sterile processing equipment including washers and autoclaves
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and power equipment
- Ability to accurately record sterilizer test results and maintain detailed documentation
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a Sterile Processing or Surgical Services department
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and competency in sterile processing practices
