Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care patients
- Circulate in the OR during deliveries and surgical procedures across 4 operating rooms
- Function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continuous newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments until transfer to postpartum
- Administer and monitor high-acuity medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Perform electronic fetal monitoring and document care using EPIC
- Float to Postpartum and Antepartum units as needed, following AWHONN staffing guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of Labor and Delivery experience in a high-acuity, high-paced environment; high-risk L&D experience required
- Current and valid RN licensure; active compact license accepted
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP (proof required at submission)
- Demonstrated ability to circulate in the OR
- Demonstrated ability to provide full newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K (thigh) injections, and newborn assessments
- Proficiency with EPIC and electronic fetal monitoring
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 5 or more years of high-risk Labor and Delivery experience strongly preferred
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Experience in high-volume delivery settings (unit averaging 500–600 deliveries per month)
