Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Option for 36 or 48 hours per week | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Manage patients with complex diagnoses including respiratory failure/ARDS, acute cardiac events, arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including ventilators, BiPAP, CRRT/dialysis, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring systems, and defibrillators
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage continuous IV sedation, and administer emergency medications and blood products
- Care for pre- and post-operative cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgery patients, as well as pre- and post-transplant and end-of-life/organ donation patients
- Float within service line to other ICU units as needed to meet facility demands
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (MO or compact license required; pending MO license accepted at time of submittal)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; first-time travel nurses not accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
- Proficiency in: arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, CVP and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT/NT)
- Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, wound care with drains/wound vac, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
- Candidate's permanent home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for patients with chronic/acute renal failure and familiarity with CRRT/dialysis
- Background in CVA/acute stroke management and neuro-medicine patient populations
- Prior experience in a Magnet-designated or Level I Trauma Center environment
