Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and post-operative planning needs; review patient history and diagnostics and report abnormal results to the appropriate care team members.
• Formulate and initiate individualized plans of care, including discharge planning, incorporating patient and family input and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.
• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
• Promote continuity of care by effectively communicating patient status to other caregivers and participating in facility shared leadership and quality improvement initiatives.
• Precept and mentor staff, students, and new personnel as appropriate; actively participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing (or higher) required.
• Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• PALS certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned to a facility servicing pediatrics.
• Core (Full-Time / Part-Time): Minimum one year of licensed RN experience in PreOp/PACU (or comparable setting such as ICU or ED), OR a licensed RN with no PreOp/PACU experience who enrolls in and successfully completes the Perianesthesia Academy within 4 months, OR a newly licensed RN who enrolls in and successfully completes the Perianesthesia Academy within 4 months.
• PRN: Minimum two years of licensed RN experience in PreOp/PACU required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior licensed RN experience in a PreOp/PACU setting strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
