Hospice RN – Nights (After Hours)

Contract | Nights | 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), rotating nights with scheduling provided 6 weeks in advance

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across a variety of settings including private residences, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and hospice care centers throughout the service area
• Assess and manage symptom control needs and respond to urgent visit requests during after-hours shifts
• Attend and support families at after-hours patient deaths across all hospice service lines
• Quickly evaluate patient and family situations and determine appropriate clinical interventions
• Communicate findings and care updates clearly and appropriately to varied audiences including families and care team members
• Work remotely from home between patient visits during the shift

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Experience in hospice, palliative care, or a related clinical specialty
• Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to triage and prioritize urgent patient needs
• Ability to work independently in a variety of care settings with minimal supervision
• Effective verbal and written communication skills tailored to diverse audiences

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior after-hours or on-call nursing experience
• Familiarity with symptom management protocols in end-of-life care
• Experience working across multiple care settings including home, facility, and inpatient environments
