Key Responsibilities

  • Scrub and/or assist in surgical procedures, establishing and maintaining a sterile field in accordance with AORN Standards of Practice and principles of asepsis
  • Prepare and manage surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies including case cart setup, preference list updates, and sterile/unsterile supply maintenance
  • Perform sharps, sponge, and instrument counts and demonstrate dexterity and organization in supporting the surgeon throughout procedures
  • Identify medications and solutions by name, dosage, and expiration date in coordination with a registered nurse, and hand medications to the surgeon as directed
  • Perform sterilization, cleaning, and maintenance of instruments and equipment including operation of sterilizing apparatus with accurate documentation
  • Conduct morning checks including Dart test, A-test, temperature checks, case cart preparation, and operation of the Xenex robot

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent U.S. military surgical technology training program
  • Current and maintained Surgical Technologist certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association at the Healthcare Provider level
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR safety policies and procedures

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Minimum of three years of operating room experience
  • Background in Cesarean Sections and Orthopedic, General, and Vascular surgery
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other OR team members in high-pressure environments
