Contract | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 3x12-hour shifts | 36 or 48 hours per week available | 13–20 week contract
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias, including remote telemetry monitoring, and participate in Rapid Response/Code team activations
- Manage IV therapy including peripheral lines, central lines, PICC lines, heparin, insulin drips, and PCA administration
- Perform and oversee respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Provide wound care, wound vac management, colostomy/ileostomy care, chest tube management, and feeding tube care
- Float as required within and between affiliated facilities; participate in storm, hurricane, and disaster response teams as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry nursing experience
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and perform telemetry monitoring
- Proficiency with phlebotomy, blood product administration, pre/post hemodialysis management, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Must be available to work every other weekend and a minimum of 2 of 3 major holidays; no block scheduling except weekend blocks
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification; experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, post angiogram, post cardiac surgery, post MI care, and IV insulin protocols
- Experience with tracheostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, accessing/managing ports, surgical drains, and ABG interpretation
- Background in CVA management, substance withdrawal, bariatric surgery, and pre/post thoracic surgery care
- Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital background, and proficiency with electronic documentation and Pyxis medication systems
