Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 32-bed combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Perform triage, cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
• Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, continuous IV paralytics, and procedural sedation
• Manage IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
• Care for neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, and shock/trauma cases including Level II trauma presentations
• Float within scope as needed to meet facility staffing needs

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or ETA) required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, and TNCC
• AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards are not accepted
• Experience in a General Emergency Department (combined adult/pediatric) and Level II Trauma Center setting
• Proficiency in triage, isolation precautions, ventilator management, telemetry interpretation, and 12-lead EKG acquisition

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner electronic health records
• Previous charge nurse experience in an emergency department setting
