Operating Room Technician – OR Tech – First Assist

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Days with Call | 10-Hour Shifts, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM | Weekday call coverage from end of scheduled shift through 7:00 AM the following morning; weekend and holiday call coverage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM the following day

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to surgeons during surgical procedures, including positioning and prepping patients prior to surgery
• Ensure clear surgical visibility using instruments such as retractors and sponges
• Control bleeding and close surgical sites using sutures or staples, and properly dress wounds
• Perform independent endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) as a core function of the role
• Cover the surgical technologist role as needed throughout the week
• Collaborate with surgeons and the broader surgical team to support proper post-operative patient care

Required Qualifications

• EVH certification through NSAA or ABSA required
• BLS certification required
• CFSA through CAAHEP, CST through ABHES, or NBSTSA certification required
• Minimum 3 years of cardiovascular (CV) surgical experience required — non-negotiable
• Must be able to independently perform vein harvesting
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience functioning in a dual capacity as both a First Assist and Surgical Technologist
• Familiarity with cardiovascular surgical protocols and post-operative care standards
