Operating Room Technician – OR Tech – First Assist

Contract | Days | 10-Hour Shifts with Call Coverage | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct first assist support to surgeons during surgical procedures, including cardiovascular cases
• Independently perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) as required
• Position and prep patients prior to surgery, ensuring proper surgical site exposure using retractors, sponges, and related instruments
• Control bleeding and close surgical sites using sutures or staples, and apply proper wound dressings
• Cover the surgical technologist role as needed throughout the week
• Collaborate with surgeons and the broader surgical team to ensure appropriate post-operative patient care

Required Qualifications

• EVH (Endoscopic Vein Harvesting) certification through NBSTSA, NSAA, or ABSA — required
• BLS certification — required>
• CFSA through CAAHEP, CST through ABHES, or NBSTSA certification — required
• Minimum 3 years of cardiovascular (CV) surgical experience — non-negotiable
• Must be able to independently perform vein harvesting

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel experience in a surgical technologist or first assist capacity
• Familiarity with call coverage protocols including weekday, weekend, and holiday on-call schedules
