Key Responsibilities
- Examine, test, diagnose, and administer remedial treatments for patients with speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders
- Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation, including receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, and auditory skills
- Record speech samples and conduct phonetic analyses of speech ability; document test results and recommend remedial treatment plans
- Interpret and carry out physician prescriptions; receive and write verbal orders from physicians, nurse practitioners, and/or physician assistants in accordance with practice act guidelines
- Maintain active communication with patients regarding progress, home programs, and issues related to the therapeutic process
- Assist with direction, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of supportive staff, volunteers, and students utilized in the department
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Speech Language Pathology program; Bachelor's Degree required
- Must hold or be eligible for state licensure in Speech Language Pathology; license must be presented prior to employment
- American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) membership card required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred; new graduates accepted and CFY supervision may be arranged
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior clinical experience in a therapy or rehabilitation setting
- Experience working with diverse patient populations across a range of speech, language, and hearing disorders
