Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 43-bed orthopedic unit with all private rooms, managing a wide variety of medical-surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma patients with fractures
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on night shifts, collaborating with PCTs assigned at a 1:7–8 ratiodeliver postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical nursing care in accordance with unit protocols
- Monitor patients using house-wide telemetry pack monitors (Philips) and manage equipment including CPAP and heated high-flow oxygen as needed
- Float to other like medical-surgical floors on an occasional basis as needed
- Adhere to a drug-free campus policy and maintain professional appearance standards including covering tattoos and piercings
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience in postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical nursing
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights)
- Must produce a negative drug screen prior to placement
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience in an orthopedic or medical-surgical setting
- Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
- Experience with CPAP and heated high-flow oxygen equipment
