Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and post-operative planning needs; review patient history and physical with patient and family.
  • Formulate and initiate individualized plans of care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data, medical plan of care, and multidisciplinary team input; revise plans as patient needs change.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; assess progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team and revise the plan of care accordingly.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation accurately and in a timely manner in the patient record, including nursing interventions and patient response to treatment.
  • Participate in facility shared leadership, quality improvement initiatives, and the education, orientation, and mentoring of staff, patients, students, and families.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Washington.
  • Experience in PreOp and/or PACU nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care across the physical and developmental age spectrum.
  • Ability to synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family care needs.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of a direct patient care environment, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 75 pounds, and responding quickly to unexpected patient care needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person and by telephone.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience serving in a relief charge nurse capacity, overseeing staff and department workflow.
  • Familiarity with national nursing quality indicators and participation in professional nursing organizations.
  • Experience precepting or mentoring nursing staff, students, or new hires.
