Emergency Department Registered Nurse (Travel Contract)

Contract (13 Weeks) | Mid Shift (3:00 PM – 3:00 AM) | 36–48 Hours Per Week | Onsite | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays as Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all age groups within a high-volume Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center emergency department
- Manage patient assignments with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:1 for critical and trauma patients to 1:3–4 for general emergency patients
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff to deliver timely and effective emergency care
- Float to other units and hospital facilities as needed to support staffing requirements
- Document patient care accurately using the facility's Meditech EMR system
- Adhere to facility dress code (solid navy scrubs) and all departmental policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Alabama or a valid Compact license (temporary licenses not accepted); NURSYS verification required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working under the highest level of professional licensure, including at least 2 years in a large hospital setting with trauma experience
- AHA or Red Cross ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) and SECURE (completed on-site) certifications required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a high-volume emergency department treating 60,000+ patients annually
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR systems
- Experience floating across multiple units or hospital facilities
