Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 3 x 12-Hour Shifts Per Week | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays Based on Unit Needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit setting with patient ratios of 3:1 to 4:1
- Manage patients requiring BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and independent lab draws without a vascular access team
- Independently call consults and conduct codes as needed
- Care for post-open-heart surgery patients (Day 2 or Day 3) including management of pacer wires
- Float to ICU and other inpatient units including Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and the Emergency Department based on unit needs and prior experience
Required Qualifications
- Active Kansas RN License or valid Compact RN License
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care, ICU, or Emergency Department experience
- Demonstrated experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and independent lab draws
- Ability to independently call consults and run codes without dedicated support teams
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with post-open-heart surgery patients including pacer wire management (Day 2 or Day 3)
- Prior experience floating to ICU, Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, or Emergency Department settings
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
