Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 Hours per Week | 13–26 Week Assignments

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular disorders, cardiomyopathy, and peripheral vascular disease
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias, and manage cardiac drips including titration as required
• Perform and assist with special procedures including sheath management and removal, post-cath care, post-DCCV care, pacemaker placements, and post-electrophysiology procedures
• Operate and manage specialized equipment including femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, Doppler, bladder scanner, and EKG
• Maintain accurate documentation and communication using EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR methodology
• Participate in unit float rotation and fulfill weekend requirements; contract staff must be available to serve on Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
• Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor
• Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac-specific experience
• Demonstrated skills in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac catheterization care, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with arterial line management
• Wound care and wound vac experience
• Charge nurse experience
