Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced orthopedic and neuro-spine unit with a patient population that includes post-surgical, med-surg, and orthopedic diagnoses
- Manage pain effectively for orthopedic and spine patients, staying proactive with pain management protocols
- Maintain assigned patient ratios, typically 5–6:1, with the possibility of flexing up to 7:1 in extreme circumstances
- Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring as part of routine patient care
- Float to other med-surg units within the facility as needed to meet staffing and census demands
- Adhere to weekend requirements, including every other weekend, with makeup shifts required if a weekend shift is missed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
- Minimum of 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience required
- Proficiency with IV starts and telemetry monitoring
- Current BLS (BCLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification
- Charge nurse experience
- Level I Trauma experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health records (required for first-time travelers)
