Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic Focus)

Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit serving orthopedic, neuro spine, post-surgical, and general med-surg patient populations
• Manage pain effectively for orthopedic and spine patients, staying proactive with pain assessment and intervention
• Perform IV starts and monitor telemetry as part of routine patient care
• Maintain patient ratios of 5–6:1, with the ability to flex as unit census demands
• Float to other med-surg units within the facility as needed to meet staffing requirements
• Adhere to scheduling requirements including every-other-weekend coverage and block scheduling options (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in NC or a Compact state
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with required orthopedic nursing experience
• Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Current BCLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification
• Charge nurse experience
• Level I Trauma experience
• Epic EMR experience (required for first-time travelers)
