Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care for a general IMC patient population including Neurological, Respiratory, Cardiac, and GI cases.
• Utilize the nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned patients in accordance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol, including management of up to three simultaneous drips and BiPAP monitoring; assess for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
• Assess patient and family learning needs; provide education and identify appropriate resources.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Telemetry, IMC, or a related nursing specialty.
• Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — American Heart Association only.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification — American Heart Association only.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHS) certification required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records highly preferred.
