Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex laboratory tests across multiple disciplines including hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry, and therapeutic drug monitoring in accordance with established protocols.
- Conduct phlebotomy procedures including arterial puncture, capillary punctures, and venipunctures, applying age-specific criteria as appropriate.
- Calibrate, standardize, and maintain laboratory instruments; perform quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure proper instrument and reagent function.
- Validate and report test results accurately and in a timely manner; process specimens utilizing established protocols and technical knowledge.
- Assist in the maintenance and development of laboratory policy and procedural manuals, and support orientation and training of students and new employees.
- Follow all established safety practices including biohazard protocols, exposure control plans, infection control, universal precautions, and chemical hygiene standards.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or a related area of specialty.
- Certification/registration or certification/registry eligibility as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through AMT or ASCP is required.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of medical technology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to function as a general supervisor for waived, moderate, and high complexity testing upon successful completion of probationary period.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience performing laboratory testing across multiple disciplines in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with quality assurance programs and laboratory equipment maintenance procedures.
